The current rage for TV and Cable Networks is to produce “Reality” shows.  I have yet to watch one that reflects real life. The reason they are popular is that we  love watching someone else do stupid things… pretending to be serious.

The evening news was reporting recently (again) about Congressional members who were seriously committed to acting stupid .

Anyone with half a brain listens to their petty reasons for failing to do anything and thinks, “You’ve got to be kidding!”  What is their reality?  Have they ever experienced real life?  If real love is never having to say you’re sorry, then political reality must be never having to prove you have a clue.

A cartoon idea was born  when I reflected on the similarity of our government and the current emphasis on reality TV.  The evolution of our Country’s focus on unreal reality seems to be a natural consequence.  Our politicians reflect our inability to see things as they are and only  see what we want to see. 

I bet patients in the mental hospitals make more sense than our politicians… Maybe we should vote for them! Or,… did we do that already and now THAT is our reality?
